Dr. Karyn Gordon is one of Canada's leading authorities on understanding youth. A parent / teen coach, motivational speaker and author, Dr. Karyn's style is dynamic and inspiring. Her knowledge is empowering and pragmatic. Her gift is communicating creatively so psychology 'makes sense' to both teens and parents. Dr. Karyn's mission is to truly understand what makes youth 'tick' (thoughts, feelings, actions) so she can help teens reach their full potential; help parents learn how to connect with their teen and help marketers gain a genuine understanding of youth so they can give back to this audience.
In addition to her speaking tour for teens, which Motorola has been a sponsor; Dr. Karyn shares her advice with parents on her radio talk-show, Bridging the Gap, (Newstalk 1010 CFRB). She is the resident therapist on The Mom Show. She is also interviewed frequently by national media to provide insight into the pressures and issues facing Canadian youth.
In her private practice, Dr. Karyn has listened to more than 7000 hours of teens spilling their guts. For nearly ten years, she has listened, coached and spoken to more than 185,000 teens and their parents across North America. Dr. Karyn has authored two resources: Analyse Yourself for teens and Analyse Your Teen: 4 Part CD Series for parents of teens. Dr. Karyn has a Bachelor in Psychology, a Masters in Counseling and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Encouraging youth to speak up, and ensuring someone is there to listen, is no small task. That’s why Motorola Canada has assembled a panel of experts to guide us in our Raise Your Voice™ program.
With their diverse backgrounds, they provide us with sound insights into the range of issues facing youth at home, in the classroom and in the school yard.
